Garden Wolf works with grant-funded researchers to turn peer-reviewed findings into illustrated children's books. It's a knowledge mobilization output that keeps reaching families, schools, and clinics long after the study closes.
Knowledge mobilization funding is there to get research out of the journal and into the hands of the people it's about. An illustrated children's book, built from your work and checked for accuracy, does exactly that.
We shape your findings into plain, age-appropriate language with you, and you check it for accuracy at every stage. The story stays true to the evidence.
Every project includes a short guide for educators and clinicians, so the adults using the book have real tools, not just a story. You also get the finished book as digital files (PDF and ebook) to share however you like.
Families, pediatric clinics, school libraries, community mental health programs. Those are the readers, not other academics. The book gets to the people your research is actually about.
Your book isn't a typical commercial product. It's a way to get your research to the people who need it.
Marlee Kostiner, FounderA few things that set us apart from a commercial publisher or a self-publishing platform when the work is grant-funded.
We never take royalties or copyright. The book is yours, so you decide how it's priced, shared, or given away, including adding a Creative Commons licence so schools and clinics can copy and share it freely.
A formal quote with line items that match grant expense categories, ready for the budget section of your application.
Most books take 9 to 12 months. If your grant calls for a shorter or longer timeline, we'll suggest ways to plan the work around it, including when your funds are released.
Pay in milestones, each one after you've approved the work, not on fixed dates. That lines up with how grant money actually comes in, and makes reporting simpler. Or, if it suits you better, start with a deposit and spread the rest over 6 or 10 monthly payments.
We're in Pointe-Claire, Quebec and have worked on book translations. English and French editions available.
Our clients include forensic psychiatrists, child and adolescent psychologists, and other clinician-researchers. We're comfortable with clinical material and the care it needs.
